This is an original Franciscan "Starburst" dinner plate, which is one of the most iconic and highly sought-after ceramic patterns from the Mid-Century Modern (MCM) era.
Designed by Gladding, McBean & Co. under their Franciscan Ware brand, this space-age, atomic design was introduced in 1954 to match the futuristic design trends of the decade.
This plate has markings of use, and certain marks resembling “creases” are unfortunately due to age and manufacturing processes.
